Description
Contributes to normal energy-yielding metabolism, normal iron metabolism, the maintenance of normal red blood cells, and the protection of cells from oxidative stress.
How It Works
Riboflavin is the precursor to FAD and FMN, the flavin cofactors of the electron transport chain. It is also a required cofactor for MTHFR, which links riboflavin status directly to folate metabolism.
Why This Form
The phosphorylated form, dosed at a level that meaningfully supports MTHFR function rather than at the token level typical of multivitamins. Selling an active folate while under-dosing riboflavin undermines the folate strategy in the same product.
What we rejected: Token inclusion at levels that colour the capsule rather than support the enzyme.
The Research Behind It
Human erythrocyte glutathione reductase activation coefficient studies, alongside the riboflavin–MTHFR interaction literature.
What The Evidence Does Not Show
This is a cofactor argument, not a standalone benefit claim. Riboflavin sold in isolation has a limited case for most people.
