Description
Contributes to normal macronutrient metabolism and to the maintenance of normal blood glucose concentrations.
How It Works
Chromium is proposed to potentiate insulin receptor signalling, although the precise molecular mechanism remains under active investigation.
Why This Form
Calibrated honesty. The human randomized controlled trial evidence for chromium in non-diabetic populations is genuinely mixed, and we present it as mixed — including the trials that found no effect — rather than selecting favourably. In a category where chromium is routinely sold as a weight-loss agent, showing the actual state of the evidence is the strongest demonstration of our standard we can offer.
What we rejected: Selective citation, and every weight-loss claim ever attached to this ingredient.
The Research Behind It
Human glucose and insulin sensitivity randomized controlled trials, including null findings, which appear in the same reference list as the positive ones.
What The Evidence Does Not Show
We are not confident this does a great deal for a healthy adult, and the evidence does not permit us to be. It is included for nutritional completeness. It is not a weight-loss product and the research does not support marketing it as one.
