Description
Evidence Tier · Randomized Controlled Trials
Vitamin D3 paired with vitamin K2 as menaquinone-7 and a modest dose of calcium, in one capsule.
What It Does
Supports normal calcium absorption, bone maintenance, and immune function.*
How It Works
Vitamin D3 increases intestinal calcium absorption. Vitamin K2 activates osteocalcin, the protein that binds calcium into bone matrix. The two act in sequence.
Why This Form
D3 rather than D2, which raises serum 25(OH)D less efficiently. MK-7 rather than MK-4 for a longer serum half-life suited to once-daily use.
Clinical Evidence
A dose-response study established how much serum 25(OH)D rises per unit of daily cholecalciferol.¹ A three-year trial of MK-7 in postmenopausal women measured bone mineral density and strength.²
What The Evidence Does Not Show
The MK-7 trial used 180 mcg daily. This formula provides 100 mcg. 5,000 IU is a repletion-level dose. Have your serum vitamin D checked if you take it long term. Contraindicated with vitamin K antagonist anticoagulants such as warfarin.
