Description
Evidence Tier · Randomized Controlled Trials
Vitamin C, vitamin E, zinc and copper based on the National Eye Institute AREDS formula, with bilberry and lutein.
What It Does
Supports healthy vision and eye function as you age.*
How It Works
The retina has high oxygen use and light exposure. Antioxidant vitamins and zinc protect retinal cells from oxidative stress.
Why This Form
Vitamin C at 500 mg and zinc at 80 mg match the AREDS formula. Copper is included because high-dose zinc can lower copper.
Clinical Evidence
The Age-Related Eye Disease Study, a randomized trial sponsored by the National Eye Institute, tested antioxidants and zinc over a mean of 6.3 years.¹ AREDS2 tested adding lutein and zeaxanthin.²
What The Evidence Does Not Show
AREDS studied people with existing eye conditions and is cited for formulation basis only. Vitamin E and lutein here are lower than in AREDS and AREDS2. 80 mg zinc is above the upper limit for long-term use without medical guidance.
