Description
Evidence Tier · Randomized Controlled Trials
Pure creatine monohydrate. One ingredient, nothing added.
What It Does
Increases physical performance in successive bursts of short-term, high-intensity exercise.*
How It Works
Phosphocreatine donates a phosphate group to regenerate ATP during high-intensity effort. Supplementation raises muscle creatine stores by roughly 20 to 40 percent.
Why This Form
Monohydrate is the form used in nearly all human trials. Buffered, hydrochloride and ethyl-ester forms have not outperformed it.
Clinical Evidence
The International Society of Sports Nutrition position stand reviewed hundreds of human trials on creatine for performance, lean mass and safety.¹ A systematic review of randomized trials examined creatine and memory in healthy adults.²
What The Evidence Does Not Show
Cognitive research is younger than the performance literature. Some people retain water in the first weeks.
