Description
Evidence Tier · Randomized Controlled Trials
Magnesium bound to glycine, a chelated form that is well tolerated by the digestive tract.
What It Does
Supports normal muscle and nervous system function and restful sleep.*
How It Works
Magnesium is a cofactor in over 300 enzyme reactions, including ATP production, and regulates NMDA and GABA receptor activity in the nervous system.
Why This Form
Glycinate rather than oxide. Oxide is poorly absorbed and commonly causes loose stools. Elemental magnesium is stated separately from compound weight.
Clinical Evidence
A double-blind, placebo-controlled trial in older adults with insomnia gave 500 mg magnesium daily for 8 weeks and measured sleep and serum markers.¹
What The Evidence Does Not Show
The trial population was older adults with low dietary intake. Effects in people with adequate magnesium are less clear.
